  • Overview

    EAC Network seeks a Substance Abuse Counselor to work full time for its New Path Treatment Center program located in Hempstead, Nassau County. Position is 35 hours weekly with flexible hours (some evening hours required). Daytime hours are 8:30am-4:30pm and evening hours are 12:30pm-8:30pm. Position has excellent benefits medical/dental/401K and very generous Paid Time Off plan (PTO). 

    Responsibilities

    • Conduct individual, family and group counseling sessions.
    • Act independently to provide consultation and treatment for family and related other individuals of clients.
    • Assess condition of client's progress and status during treatment sessions especially for complex cases.
    • Record progress notes of each treatment session, detailing dates, types of counseling provided, nature of counseling, length of session and client progress.
    • Review client treatment plans as guide to treatment.
    • Plan, with Supervision and any criminal justice referral source, long-range goals and any ancillary referral sources for clients.
    • Customarily and regularly exercises discretionary powers.
    • Provide emergency coverage and crisis intervention.
    • Conduct random drug tests on clients to determine compliance.

    Qualifications

    • LCSW, LMSW or LMHC degree or minimum of Bachelor’s degree and CASAC preferred. 
    • Minimum of two years of treatment experience in addiction services area required.
    • Must be proficient in computer applications or other automated systems such as spreadsheets, Microsoft Office applications, calendar, and email and/or database software necessary to preform work assignments.
    • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills required.
    • Bilingual (English/Spanish) big plus.
